JSON Formatter and Validator

Validate JSON and adjust whitespace without silently rounding large integers, normalizing number spelling, or discarding duplicate keys.

Process JSON

Paste JSON and choose Format, Minify or Validate. Formatting uses two-space indentation. Validation checks syntax; it does not validate a schema. Limits are 262,144 UTF-16 code units, 50,000 tokens and 128 nesting levels. No user content is evaluated or rendered as HTML.

Result

Enter your inputs and run the tool.

Method and assumptions

Only whitespace outside string tokens changes in Format or Minify mode. Number spelling, escapes, key order and duplicate keys are preserved. Syntax validation uses the browser JSON parser, but its parsed values are never serialized into the output.

Worked examples

Preserve a large integer

Input {"id":9007199254740993} keeps all the same digits in the output instead of rounding through JavaScript Number.

Preserve duplicate keys

Input {"a":1,"a":2} retains both members. Duplicate keys can be interpreted differently by downstream software; preserving them does not make them interoperable. Comments and trailing commas are rejected.

Limits and useful checks

Use synthetic examples when working with secrets or customer data. The tool does not intentionally transmit or persist your input, but the website’s privacy policy and existing scripts still apply. Results stay in the page until you change inputs, reset or leave. Extremely deep or large inputs are rejected to protect browser responsiveness.
